Feldenkrais Method® (FM) is an ingenious approach to improving peoples’ ability
to learn and to function through simulating the exploratory style of learning natural to infants. At
its heart is the overwhelming need for learning in human development and the equally enormous capacity
for learning. A major interest of the FM is to enable the person to include those body parts never before
considered in his image of movement so he can experience how his whole body cooperates in any motion.
People learn new patterns of movement specifically designed to expand body awareness and to enhance
the neuromuscular self-image, allowing more efficient and comfortable movement.
In this workshop you will deepen your understanding of the biomechanics of balance, stability and gait
throughAwareness Through Movement® (ATM) lessons that directly apply to the needs of clients who
are experiencing difficulties in these areas. Balance and stability will be approached as they develop
from childhood to the mature adult. We will explore various strategies used when falling to avoid injury.
This is an excellent opportunity to appreciate the issues of balance and falling through the practical
and pertinent applications of the Feldenkrais Method.
